About The Garrack
Secluded and away from the noise of traffic, The Garrack Hotel stands in two acres with breathtaking views over Porthmeor beach, St.Ives, the sweep of St. Ives Bay and the Atlantic beyond. Situated between town and country, within 15 minutes' walk to the beaches and picturesque harbour to the north-east and cliffs and coastal footpath to the north-west.
In summer it is a welcome haven from the hustle and bustle of a popular tourist town and an ideal base to explore the area.In winter, it is a cosy retreat, with log fires, and a country house charm, reminiscent of the gentleman's residence that it once was. Family owned and run by the Kilby's since 1965, The Garrack is a place of comfort and traditional hospitality, for you to eat well, sleep soundly, leave relaxed… and hopefully, to return..
The ivy-clad granite house was completed in 1923 as a small gentleman's residence. The Hotel was established in 1948. In September 1965, the Hotel was purchased by John & Frances Kilby and the Hotel is now run by the 2nd generation, their sons Michael & Stephen ( & Frances being retired). During the 40yrs of Kilby ownership, the hotel has been extended, leisure facilities added and continually upgraded, to maintain ever increasing standards.
